Pathfinder Adventures exist as a ministry outreach to high school youth. Our concept involves exposing 21st Century teens to 18th Century colonial frontier cultural mores, physical labors and challenges. Our outdoor wilderness adventures, combine 1750’s trail treks, survival skills, and historical recreations. As a discipleship ministry, our emphasis will be to expose our participants to a Biblical world view.

Our concept is radical in that we call upon our participants to step out of their normal 21st Century comfort zone, and experience the day to day challenges of 18th Century colonial America. Our living history experience teaches both rugged individualism and community reliance including proper relationships based on unchanging Biblical absolutes.

That rugged individualism includes tackling wilderness experiences with bare minimum 18th Century equipment and knowledge. Various historical scenarios, tacticals, night watches, mock battles, foraging and camp duties (including 18th century food preparation), transport participants back to a simpler and yet challenging time. Training includes historical education, fire making, survival techniques (always under supervision), musket and edged weapon safety. Combined, these elements help to provide high adventure to cross country wilderness treks and historical site events.

Team building techniques include shared camp duties, two man night watches, two man overnight “solos”, shared Bible study preparation and teaching, as well as a host of other group activities helping the participants learn what it truly means to be “the Body of Christ”.
